5 Times Young Sheldon Referenced Big Bang Theory, Season 2 Finale Aside

These will never fail to make you 'aww'.

Young Sheldon, being a prequel to The Big Bang Theory, did something that not many spin-offs of the popular shows have ever managed to do. They won over the audience and managed to perfect what had already been so beloved and enjoyed for many years.

That doesn't mean the fans were ready to turn their backs on the original. In fact, they were always happy to have a strong connection between the two series through the voice of Jim Parsons. Any additional references were treated like a nice surprise.

Here are 5 such references to The Big Bang Theory that you may have never noticed before.

Visit to CalTech

Even at a young age, Sheldon was fascinated by all the conversations scientists have during their breaks. Well, he wasn't wrong: we've seen a lot of them caught on camera during episodes of The Big Bang Theory, and they were definitely very stimulating.

Enemies List

Remember when Sheldon yelled at Brent Spiner and put him on his enemies list in season 5 of The Big Bang Theory? Well, young Sheldon definitely kept that detail intact by showing us a very cute pixelated design of what might have been the first digital version of it. We bet there were a lot more people on it when he was in his 30s.

Mother Had Him Tested

Though we never see this actually happen in Young Sheldon, we hear him say it, just like he said it on The Big Bang Theory. It's understandable: Sheldon's unique way of thinking would have caused concern for anyone in Texas in the '90s.

Professor Proton

If there's one person that Sheldon has carried a love for through all these years without falling out, it's Professor Proton. From an autographed poster on the wall, he appeared right in front of him in season 6 of The Big Bang Theory. We don't blame him for thinking Sheldon was dangerous at first, considering all the excitement.

Mary Cooper

Though it's not as obvious for the viewers without knowing a background casting story, but Mary Cooper in The Big Bang Theory is portrayed by Young Sheldon's Mary Cooper real life mother. Despite a fun coincidence, it wasn't planned at all, and the actress had to go through the equal process of auditioning, but her on-screen presence is one huge reference now.
